..::9/11::..

September 11th, 2005 by magicmilkyway37

It’s been 4 years since 9/11… I was like 10 years old then.. can’t believe that much time has passed already. So much evil in the world. I remember that morning, Mom was on the phone with Dad, talking frantically for some reason. I looked to the TV, a plane just crashes into the World Trade Centers. I’m thinking, how did this happen?  Must be some sort of accident. But then no, the news reporter says that it was a terrorist attack. Mom has an uncle in New Jersey, Lolo Greg. He used to work in the World Trade Center. Called him up to see if he was alright, luckily he was. But he said he felt the impact of the crashes while he was in his car. I feel so sorry for all those people who lost a family member then… kids who lost their parents. Just sad… Everywhere on the news all you could see was the chaos in New York, people posting up "Have you seen…" pictures of loved ones. President Bush making announcements on "The War Against Terrorism". During our old church weekly Bible studies, I’d listen in sometimes… Sometimes they’d say that it was a sign that the Rapturing was nearing, or something like that… great wars, that kinda thing. I have to admit, I was scared during those times, especially to ride airplanes. Talks of more soon to come terrorist attacks, which thankfully never came, or were prevented. There was that guy who hid this [from what I remember] white clay-like bomb in his shoe. Airport security was extremely tight then. You’d have to be at the airport 5 hours prior to your flight.

Nowadays, airport security isn’t that tight anymore. And no major terrorist attacks, other than the minor bombings and such. I was rattled about the London Bombing though… I have a few relatives in Europe.

What’s really bugging me now are the natural disasters. That Tsunami earlier this year. It was so close to hitting the Philippines, but it didn’t. More lives were taken, more cities destroyed. More rebuilding to do afterwards. Latest is Hurricane Katrina, most of New Orleans is now flooded. The flood waters, like sewage, carrier of dangerous chemicals. I can understand the people who are unwilling to leave their homes, they have no money and nowhere else to go. But they have to consider their safety as well. Draining the city of all the water should take a while, though. It’s gonna be hard for those people to start a new life after this. Some are blaming President Bush for this inccident. They really shouldn’t though, not his fault. It’s a natural disaster, and I doubt President Bush wanted this to happen, although he was kinda slow in the relief efforts. Hey, atleast it’s better than nothing!

It’s difficult to loose everything you’ve worked so hard for, and most especially difficult to loose a love one. But still, life goes on. And don’t forget to pray for the families who have lost so much…

Mon dieu, haven’t been here for a while, noh?

Anywayz, this psat month has been crazy! Tita Rose [Dad's older sister from Europe] is visiting. She’s been here since Aug. 2 and is staying until the 31st, which is like 4 days away. Awww, im going to miss her! She’s one of my favorite Titas! We’ve been going around all over the place… Bataan, Baguio, Villa Escudero, malling, and tons of beauty parlors! Hehe! She’ll be back in December, though. Tita Mila and Daddy are coming in Dec as well. Yay, another family reunion!

Later, me, Tita Rose, Tita Bella, and Shamaine are either going to watch a movie [Charlie and the Chocolate Factory] or go bowling. Personally, I’d like to watch a movie, since we’re going bowling again on sunday.

Quick question… does anyone even read this??? Haha, just wondering… I barely write in here… I’ve said it before, my main blog is at www.xanga.com/magicmilkyway37 ! If you’re gonna check it out, leave a comment on it, so I know you visited! ^_^   and for pictures… http://photos.yahoo.com/sweetpnaygrl37 . Then check out my MYSPACE as well!!! Hehe! www.myspace.com/magicmilkyway37 .

Hmmm… I guess that’s all for now! A tout a l’huere!!!!

Friendster’s dead! haha, no not really… but truthfully for me it’s getting pretty boring… Myspace is better! Mwahaha! Plus you can edit the HTML, so it’s cool. And most of my U.S friends use that as well. You can check my profile out here, www.myspace.com/magicmilkyway37

Don’t forget my xanga either!

www.xanga.com/magicmilkyway37

I would continue my speculations about ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ right now, but i’m stretching my vocal cords and preparing for company later on. Tito Arthur and Kuya Angel are coming over later this afternoon so Kuya Angel can fix my old computer. Yippee! LoL!

Weird thing. For some reason I’ve been hearing voices… singing Angel Of Music.. hmm… either that or i’m just overly obbsessed or paranoid. I even had this dream a few nights ago. I was at the Opera Garnier and it was completely deserted, then I was in this fancy blue dress. I was just wandering about while this creepy [well.. I guess not that creepy.. more like enchanting.. hehe!] Phantom of the Opera music was playing in the background. It was awesome! ^_^

Bestfriends Breanna and Adrienne and me are planning to go see-the-world after college! yayness.. Cruise here.. plane there.. all the while looking out for cute guys! haha! & Bre and I are planning on stalking Oliver James and Daniel Radcliffe! Mwahaha! Then I’m learning French, for when we get along to Paris. YES!!! My 2 aunties live in Europe [one in Luxembourg, one in Vienna/Germany, and a cousin in Amsterdam] so we have a few crash points. I swear i’m gonna wander off if there are any tours of the Opera Garnier. haha… I wanna go find that underground lake… PROOF!! BWAHAHA!.. LoL, yea I know i’m slightly on the wierd side when it comes to P.O.T.O… Sooner or later i’m going to convert Bre & Adji into fans as well… Bre thought it was all creepy at first [hasn't seen any movies of it or read the book] but then yea, I gave her some background and her transformation is just beginning! LMAO! Although some are real fact [atleast I think so... the rough bit amount of information were molded] and some from the movie. I can’t wait to see them when I get back to Cali… we’re going to rent a condo by the beach.. haha, hey it’s possible! We live in L.A! There’re hecka beaches there! I guess i’m going to swing back and forth there from San Jose, since that’s mainly where my roots are.

Long posts… haha! yeap… I shall discuss the matter of The Phantom of the Opera next time! I doubt any of you people read it though.. hehe! Most of you have better things to do than read my little blog. Thanks to those who do though [IF there are any]. Adieu!

..::Fact or Fiction?::..

I’m going to start rambling on again about my theories involving ‘The Phantom of the Opera’… LoL… anywayz.. I posted that little bit down there on my MySpace Blog on March ‘05…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The Opera ghost really existed. He was not, as was long believed, a creature of the imagination of the artists, the superstition of the managers, or the absurd and impressionable brains of the young ladies of the ballet, their mothers, the box-keepers, the cloak-room attendants, or the concierge. No, he existed in flesh and blood, though he assumed all the outward characteristics of a real phantom, that is to say, of a ghost."
- Gaston Leroux
Gaston Leroux.. the guy who wrote ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. I was browsing the PotO website earlier [ www.thephantomoftheopera.com ] and stumbled upon that comment, leaving me ponderning if the story of the PotO is true. The famous Paris Opera House is really in France, with 2 ballet schools within it. Even the lake under it is real. I still have to find out if it has been burned at some point in time. I’d surely like to visit it one day.
The Phantom of the Opera has been one of my favorite musicals since I watched its broadway version of it in 1998 with some church friends [ Kuya Jesse, Auntie Bhabes, Uncle Joji, Auntie Jane & some others ]. I think I was about 8 years old then. It was very memorable expirience. It was one of the things that inspired me to start singing. Then, I could reach all the high operatic notes. Then I stopped singing for about a year, so now I can’t really sing like I used to, but I manage to once in a while. Then when the movie of it came out, it renewed my obsession for it. hehe. Although I wish they kept the original cast [Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman, Steve Barton..] but the new cast it fine! They were supposed to make the movie a long time ago with the original cast, but Andrew Lloyd Webber & Sarah Brightman split so the project was put on hold. I think they’re also going to create a sequel to it, atleast, that’s what I read in the program for the broadway.
I know they’ve already made a few movie versions of the Phantom, I’ve yet to see them though. But from the reviews I’ve read about them on www.imdb.com some of them aren’t worth watching. But the one that seems interests the one created in 1925 [ a black & white, silent version ], starring Lon Chaney Snr. Anyone know where to get a copy of it?
As for the book, unfortunately haven’t been able to find a copy of that either. Aww.. But I’ll keep on looking.
The Phantom of the Opera, a true story or a figment of the imagination? Only time can tell..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I’ve learned and researched more about it since then.. haha.. [obsessed much?? LoL!] there’s this coolio website [www.phantomoftheopera.info] with tons of information and some proof that the Phantom might’ve existed. The story which Gaston LeRoux penned may have some facts and fiction in it, stretching reality to make it seeem more interesting. The reality might no be as glorious as the book! LeRoux had to fill things in with his imagination..  Oohh.. and I do have the original book! You can also find and read it online for free!

The setting for the story is in The Ganier Opera house in Paris, Frace. Although in the story it is called The Opera Populaire. There was a chandelier crash incident in 1896, this was also described in the book, but the only difference is that in the book, the whole chandelier fell, in reality, only a part of it did. In both instances though, it fell on a woman. What’s bizzare though, that on site they have a library which contains encyclopedias [about the opera house] on each year, except for the year 1896.

The book and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s version have their differences, but the idea is pretty much the same.

Then there’s Christine Daae… It is speculated that she was based on a real person, Christine Nilsson. I have to admit they have a lot in common. LeRoux had actually met Nilsson [and it said he flirted a bit, too... LoL!] So basically, some of Daae’s characteristics and background are based off of Nilsson.

I shall continue this at another time… since right now it’s 3:30am and my brains falling asleep on me.. haha.. Bonne nuit, mon ames! Ciao!
